Remedial Work, A Mental Muzzle #176.

Remedial work

This Isn’t To Say You Can’t Think While You Do The Remedial Work. It Simply Changes The Context And Structure Of Your Thoughts.

Leaving less room for creative thought and expression. Your mind is somewhat hijacked for the 8 to 12 hours a day you spend devoted to another entity. If you have remedial work that maintains the hijack even after working hours than hopefully you love what you do. Because you have sold your mind to the highest bidder, or what you might think is your highest bidder. A company you might feel you can’t do better than what they give you. We can always do better.

Remedial work

The Path You Are On Could Be The Wrong Path

Be careful with mental distractions. What pulls you in one direction deters you from another. And that other path might be the one you were supposed to be on. I’ve seen it before.

Pressure to have a life you think you want may direct you towards a path you think you need to be on in order to attain this fictional existence and while your on that new path, those closest to you may have been content with the path you were on together. If your goal is to leave them behind I assure you, you will be successful.

But if your goal is to make a better life for them and you in turn spend all your life away from them, what does that accomplish? How is that a better life, if you eliminate yourself from the picture? Especially if you are working your life away in work that doesn’t stimulate you.

It’s a lose lose battle if your wasting your life working remedial jobs and than in turn while you waste away in this job your creative well runs dry.

What Is The Answer?

We need more freedom and more autonomy in the work we choose. Isn’t this the goal of work anyway. Work your entire life, pay your bills, save your income and hopefully one day you’ll get to spend the last few remaining years with a little bit of freedom and autonomy with the ones you love.

We should be allowed more of our life to enjoy it now, work needs to be restructured in a way that accommodates these things. You can only help others if you have the time, energy, focus and creativity to do so. Don’t let one employer burn you out on of all that.

Pouring Money Into An Infrastructure No One Wants Or Needs #175.

Money

Why Pour Money Into New Infrastructure For Bike Lanes In An Over Crowded City? If The Result Causes More Crowding And Even Less Bicyclist?

Infrastructure For Bicyclist
Photo by Adrian Williams on Unsplash

As is the case in the city of Seattle not only have city officials poured millions of dollars in infrastructure cost down the drain. Attempting to create a bike friendly city. Money that could be better used. The new lanes they created for bicyclist have taken road space from commuters. Not only that but bicycling as a whole is consistently down year over year. Just under 2 percent of the entire city commuters actually bike to work.

It’s A Poor System.

Catering to the demands of so few is absolutely ridiculous. Than in order to pay for those who don’t have to drive to work or those who take public transportation. The majority, those who owns vehicles, have to pay astronomical taxes for car tabs in order to fund these projects that cater to those who don’t use vehicles. It’s a dumb system and it’s not even working to remove people from vehicles and put them on public transportation or on bikes. Why? because bikes are a poor inefficient and often unsafe way to get to where you need to go.

Maybe if you live within a few miles of work. You would use those other forms of transportation rather than drive yourself. But many who work in the city, live outside of the city. Why? Because to live in a city where Amazon has it’s headquarters and Google and Facebook have major office would require a salary beyond the blue collar average.

Stop Funding A Lost Cause.

Burning Money

Lastly most bicyclist want the same rights as vehicles but very few obey the same rules and laws. Most will run stop signs, run red lights, cut in front of traffic, drive far below the speed limit. You could even argue that they cause more emissions due to slowing down traffic. Granted they do have a lot more obstacles, while navigating a busy city than most. And that is probably the reason why most opt out of biking altogether. So if people are opting out. stop funding a lost cause.

Buying Into And Paying For High Priced Training’s To Make Money #174.

If You’re Paying Someone Else Anything More Than The Cost Of A Book. To Learn How To Make Money. Than You Will Be The One Losing Money. While You’re Providing Profit To The Huckster Selling You The Program.

Almost all the information is out there for free online. No money needed, no paying anyone anything. Just do a quick YouTube search and you can learn how to repair your car, make home improvements, build websites, sell online. You name it you can find it free online or in a book store. The information is endless and right at your fingertips.

No Paying With Free Books From The Library

If you can not find it free it should cost you nothing more than the price of a book to get the information you need. And even with that method most libraries contain the books need for free.

Yet many are getting rich off telling people they can help them make money. If they just pay for their online courses. There is a deluge of people online touting they can help you make excellent money selling on Amazon just committing a few hours a day tops.

Many of these course range in the thousands to tens of thousands to participate in and many of these companies are under investigation by the Federal Trade Commission due to their fraudulent claims, customer complaints, and with many customers losing their life savings in the process.

What Are Some Solutions?

As hopeful as we may be about a program that can teach us to make thousands, if not millions. We have to look in ourselves and ask are we just to lazy to do the ground work ourselves? That is not to say that guidance isn’t necessary. Find a mentor if possible. But if we all receive the same guidance the path becomes well worn. Easy to navigate but as the population continues to grow that path increasingly erodes, And our returns are consistently diminished.

Making Money Online

You have to find what works for you and sometimes that requires trail and error. Minimize error by not committing all your savings to one product or class or service. Unless you are absolutely certain you will see it all the way through to fruition or worst case scenario, have a cut off point for if you don’t make it. Diversify your education and your creations. Just remember education should not cost thousands. It’s out there and it’s mostly free.

Money As Your Sole Motivator #173.

It’s A Vapid And Vacant Equations. No Amount Of Money Will Ever Add Up To Fulfillment.

Money has no meaning, it’s not real. It’s purely an idea that we use as a value exchange. If I value what you have, I will in turn transfer you my numbers or paper that I have been collecting to you for that valued item.

My collection grows by providing value to others in exchange for their numbers. If I work harder for their numbers or give them more of my time numbers, they in turn will give me more of their numbers. If you create something of high value that millions of people want or need, they will give you some of their collection of these arbitrary numbers.

I just call them numbers here because I want to emphasize mundanity of money, it’s banal, not a true motivator of anything.

Money

Focus On What’s Truly Important.

When we choose to focus on money rather than what’s important. We become money chasers. Leaching to anything we think will grow our collection. Neglecting that which is truly important.

Also when we chase something we sometimes frighten that which we want further away. Creating the gulf between more and more expansive. We lose track of the right reasons we were ever pursuing noble ambitions.

Say you want to give your family a better life and you understand it takes an increase in financial status in order to do so. You believe you need to get your hands on more of those arbitrary numbers, so that becomes your sole focus. So you start looking for ways to obtain it. And in your pursuit you might begin to pull yourself further away. From the family you were once so eager to support grow and most importantly be a part of.

You might think money will set you free but the paradox of it all is, the pursuit of it is a new self imposed prison. Money is meaningless, the things it can buy do have purpose. Instead of chasing meaningless money, become purposeful, be a producer.

Other Alternatives.

Every time I think about making this site about money. I become disinterested and disillusioned with the process slightly neglectful. Of course I want it to be successful to the point I can devote more of my time to noble pursuit. It’s more about the allure of creating something people enjoy and want more of. Something of value to another.

I know that money is not a healthy motivator, it manipulates ambition in the wrong way. Make it about others instead. And if some how the money comes and those numbers begin to add up you can enjoy the fruits of your labor with those who are most important to you.

Failing To Understand Failure And Success Follow The Same Principles #172.

Success

Cut From The Same Cloth Both Success and Failure Start Slow Than Come All At Once.

The key is paying attention to the consistent micro actions you are participating in. Is it one of future failure or one of future success? Each action builds over time till one day you become exactly what your actions dictated. Do you look at your significant other lovingly or with scorn and annoyance? Do you feel they are a burden or an asset?

Small Actions

Small actions will show through no matter how you hide your feelings. Do you work everyday to improve your station in life or are you living paycheck to paycheck. Do you spend frivolously or do you spend conservatively? Each minor purchase is a tell tale sign of where your finances will be.

Do you pass on the veggies and go straight for refined starches or do you workout daily and cut out junk food? We’re all skinny until one day we’re all of a sudden fat, over weight and lethargic.

It All Adds Up.

Or some of us might be overweight till one day we have others commenting on how fit we look. None of it happens over night. Success is a long process of small decisions and actions. A slow simmer before the boil.

Trust me the simplest acts are always adding up. You may believe an action isn’t anything other than a passing moment of time with no consequence. This line of thinking can cost you dearly.

Micro Adjustments

If you neglect to focus on or fail to see that your glance, your remark, your body language is all playing into a bigger picture. Than you will be blindsided when your house of cards comes crumbling down. But if you pay attention and course correct early on, at the onset of slightest misstep. Those micro adjustments can have major ramifications over time and distance. If you’re off one degree over the span of the earth you will miss your destination by hundreds if not thousands of miles. That is why we must always course correct. Mistakes as well as successes compound over time.

How Did We Get Here?

We are exactly where we are because we put ourselves there. No amount of wants or desires will show through without a equal level of actions that put you in that life scenario. You may say you want something but your actions might betray that desire.

No one ever says I want to be poor, I want to be divorced, I want to be in prison. Yet I guarantee if you trace back all the individuals who are where they want to be or not where they want to be. With every single one of them you will find a well trodden path to that destination. Their very own perfect trail of actions that led them down that road. They may not even see it for themselves. You might have to uncover a few bushes or hidden shrubbery. But clear as day you will find the path.

Carve your own path to success.
Carve your own path to success.

Proper Actions.

Just keep etching your trail towards the better, make adjustments along the way. Ask for directions when you need to. Your partner and those closest to you are best suited to tell you where you might need to make adjustments. But when you look back at your accomplishments you’ll know it was a slow process getting there than all of a sudden one day you were there.

Staleness Of An Argument #171.

Making The Same Argument Over And Over Again Is Often Like Beating The Dead Horse.

However on the flip side of that saying there is another. Which says the squeky wheel gets the grease. Meaning those who stay persistent and vocal will eventually reap the rewards. This is different than when an argument goes flat and stale. When that happens it might just be time to move on.

Often in writing these post I feel many of my disagreements have been stated before. And that I continue to rehash many old arguments. That is life though, sometimes you get set in your ways creating your belief systems and you build yourself the box you trap yourself in.

The only way to alleviate a flat mixture is to stir it up a little and maybe add some heat. That is what I expect of these arguments they are best suited for a challenging dispute. Same should go for the stale disagreements in your life. Mix it up a little and new flavors. Throw it out if it’s gone bad. Change and reiterate or fuel the fire, no stagnancy. I’ll keep working to find new angles to these opinions hopefully I’m provided with new ways to look at old problems.

Applying Baby Powder #170.

baby powder

Baby Powder Has Had Cancerous Asbestos In It All Along.

Photo by Matthew Hume on Unsplash

Talc, the main ingredient in baby powder. Is usually mined within very close proximity to asbestos. Making the cancerous powder substance quite unavoidable and contamination of baby powder is frequent.

Something Johnson and Johnson has known as early on as the fifties. The company has been working on ways to keep the knowledge hidden from public since the seventies. Maybe even earlier but it has used it’s money and power to influence the Food and Drug Administration to cover up the fact.

What Is Hiding In Our Food?

This all begs the question if food and drug administration can be so easily bought off for so many years. What else is hiding in our most used products not just what we use but what we apply and feed to our loved ones?

Food dyes have also been known to cause cancer. As well as neurological problems. Yet children’s food is filled with these artificial flavors and colors. Just looked at the back of your “healthy” Flintstone vitamin box you’ll see Blue #2, Yellow #6, Red #40. These are chemical unfit for consumption.

It Starts In Childhood

Even into adulthood we continue to ingest these poisons because we trust that they are alright for consumption. If the food and drug administration has allowed them to grace our shelves what could be wrong with them? Some of our favorite snack foods and drinks are filled with these. Chips, crackers, soda, juices. It’s crazy what we over look to satiate our appetite.

Johnson and Johnson has already lost a lawsuit to the tune of 2.4 billion to 22 women who claimed the product caused their cervical cancer. It’s pretty cut and dry that the product contains asbestos and that it should be avoided. There is absolutely no safe level of asbestos exposure. To err on the safe side I would avoid all products that might contain it and especially don’t put it on a baby.

Buying Into Multilevel Marketing #169.

If You’re Not The Owner Of The Multilevel Marketing Company Than You’re The One Getting Conned.

What other job on the planet forces you to pay them in order to essentially be their employee? Than in turn making you a nuisance to your friends and family, all because they are the only people left for you to peddle your terrible products too. And while you continue to become the town pariah. Your new “employer” continues to get rich while selling you the multilevel marketing lie that you will be a millionaire. If you just buy more products to sell and get more people involved to help you sell them.

Multilevel marketing Pyramid scheme

Who Actually Makes The Money.

They will showcase the one percent of individuals who had mediocre success. Traipsing them around stages letting the audience know it is possible, just buy more of our products. Look this person did it, you can too.

You than buy in under someone else’s sales team umbrella. So the company and this other person make a large percentage of profit off your hard work and sales.

Than, not only are you selling your products, you also need to start annoyingly convincing others to buy into this company. And they can start selling under your umbrella of sales staff. This is how the multilevel marketing company continues to grow.

Multilevel Marketing Companies.

It’s absolutely asinine to join one of these companies. Lularoe, Amway, MonaVie, HerbaLife, The list goes on and on, most, if not all of these companies eventually go defunct. Once everyone figures out the scam. LuLaRoe sellers are all now suing the company for their money back. A company once valued at 2.4 billion may soon be completely worthless.

Usually only the owners and a very select few, those who are the very first in the company, are the only ones who actually make any money. The owners make a killing but all the rest are left with worthless inventory that they paid good money for, that now sits idle in some basement or storage locker.

What We Can Do Instead.

Do not buy into these companies. No matter what they say, they will not make you rich you will only help make the owners rich. If you think you can get rich from selling vitamins or leggings. Than find your own manufacturer and create your own products and sell those. That way your profits are not being eroded by all the middle men taking their chunk out of you. They take the whole pie while your left with just a sliver. Make your own pies and keep them for yourself. Avoid others get rich quick schemes. Heck you could even start your own Multilevel marketing company. Just don’t work for someone else’s.

Don’t Always Conform #168.

conform

Be Unapologetically Yourself And Don’t Always Conform To Societal Norms.

Some societal norms are of necessity to conform too. As to not harm other individuals with your actions. Don’t kill cheat or steal these are things we can agree to conform too to protect our fellow man. But in other areas of life we need not always conform.

Your Choice Is Who You Chose To Be.

As the great poet Ben Harper would say, your choice is who you choose to be and if you’re causing no harm than your alright with me. My choice is what I choose to do and if I’m causing no harm it shouldn’t bother you. Yet everywhere we look we are guided into conformity and it starts and a very early age.

Social norms dictate that you act as others do as to not disrupt the delicate balance of those interactions. What we wear, how we look, what we say all require a sense of uniformity. It takes a keen eye to understand you are playing a role and to break free from that role you need to go against the grain.

The strange thing is, and it’s something you have to pay very close attention to is this. Even when you think you might be bucking the trend, you may just be conforming to someone else’s rules.

The Conform of Nonconformity

I recently read of an artist who thought they were living the life of an artist not conforming to societal norms. Getting face and neck tattoos so he could be unhireable.

Sometime we just have to play by our own set of rules and this individual thought he was doing that. He moved into an “artist” warehouse where many other artist and misfits made their home. Yet in his attempt to check out of “normal” society he still had to pay rent, eat and buy supplies for his art. This required income.

36 People Perished In The Fire.

Eventually the manager of the warehouse allowed him to live rent free if he cleaned the bathrooms, collected the rent checks and occasionally put on events, basically he was working a job conforming to the rules the manager of the property set for him. Eventually this nonconformist put on a concert at this illegal warehouse living space and due to all the faulty wiring of the building it caught fire and 36 people died.

He was eventually blamed for these death and is now is forced to conform to a new life behind bars. He did not kill those people but the fact that he did the bidding of other individuals made him some how an accomplice. Don’t simply be the accomplice in others work, plans, goals or dreams. Or in this case a nightmare. This individual conformed through anti-conformity. It’s seems like these things can’t exist together but surely they do. And now this individual has to conform to the penitentiary system.

Be Yourself.

Walk to the beat of your own drum, conform where is absolutely necessary but go against the grain when it feels like the right move. Or if something doesn’t feel right, don’t simply conform to it because that’s what someone who might seem to have authority says to do. Question it and jump ship when it’s the wrong move.

Don’t Wear Headphones While Charging Phone #167.

It Seems Like Common Sense To Not Wear Headphones While Charging. But Even I Was Unaware You Could Get Electrocuted And Die From An Electrical Surge.

Headphones While Charing

With some chargers being so cheaply made in order to keep them as inexpensive possible. In this glut and over abundance we are bound to run into some occasions of faulty wiring. Faulty wires, which can burn up phone batteries. And apparently if you’re not careful the surge can blow right through your phone. Up through your headphones and electrocute you to death.

This very phenomenon recently happened to a 16 year old boy in Malaysia. But this is not the only occasion of this happening. All around the world there are reports of people who have died from having there headphones in there ears while charging their phone. It’s usually due to a faulty off market cell phone charger that allows a surge of electricity to come streaming through the phone.

What Are Some Better Options.

So lets err on the side of caution and never wear our headphones while charging our phone. And if we feel we absolutely have to wear headphones choose Bluetooth headphones instead. Or simply play music through the phones speaker. And lastly try not to buy off market cheap chargers. Not only can they burn up your phone they can potentially kill you if you’re not careful.
